Mala Beads & My Journey to Serenity: Finding Calm, One Breath at a Time
Partager
Whenever I feel the Mala shift gently on my wrist, whenever I hear the soft click of its beads brushing together, I remember to pause. I take a breath. I come back to myself.
You’ve likely seen those beaded bracelets some yoga teachers or “hippie types” wear — I wear one too. Sometimes even five. It’s called a Mala, and it carries much more than beads. It carries meaning.
A traditional Mala has 108 beads — an ancient number that holds spiritual and mathematical significance. Some Malas have 27 beads, a quarter of 108, perfect for shorter moments of presence.
Whether you believe in numerology or not, the magic is in what the Mala invites you to do: slow down, breathe, repeat. With each bead, you find your rhythm. With each cycle, you find your calm.
Malas are used in meditation, but their purpose extends beyond formal practice. When I wear mine, it reminds me to live mindfully — not just on the cushion, but in real life. In the grocery store line. During tough conversations. In the dentist’s chair. It’s not always easy to access peace in those moments, but the Mala helps. It anchors me.
And that leads us to something deeper — serenity.
Serenity is more than peace. It’s the state of being calm, grounded, and unshaken, even when the world isn’t.
It’s the soft place we return to when everything else feels loud. Serenity is a belonging to oneself. It’s knowing you’re not alone in your search for center.
This is why I created Serenity Factory. Because I believe that we all need reminders — physical, tangible ones — to breathe, to reconnect, and to come back to who we are.
A Mala or a beaded bracelet isn’t just jewelry. It’s a thread to your breath, a weight to your presence, a whisper that you belong.
You don’t have to do this alone.
Find your center.
Find your calm.
Find your breath.
Welcome home.
